Fashion Week Helping Fashion Week

From one fashion week to another, Kansas City Fashion Week and Kansas City Fashion Council step in to assist fellow fashion friends in light of recent natural disasters.

Even after being hit with treacherous flooding in past weeks, Charlotte Fashion Week is still hitting the runway for its 16th season and will not be canceling their shows, which are scheduled from September 25-29, 2018.

Despite some models and committee members losing their homes and flood waters still receding in the region, many volunteers around the Charlotte area and here in Kansas City are stepping in to ensure a successful week for Charlotte artists and designers.

In an effort to support other fashion communities in need, KCFC and KCFW are reaching out to their local designers and fashion community to help support the artists and designers of Charlotte. A Facebook fundraiser will go live on the Kansas City Fashion Council page this Sunday, September 23, 2018, and a booth will be set up at all KCFW shows from September 26-29 at Union Station to collect donations as well.

In addition, Kansas City Fashion Week’s featured designer this season, Rachel Roy, has graciously offered to donate 20% of the proceeds from their KCFW pop-up shop to our cause of helping one of our fellow fashion communities in need.

All money donated will go directly to assist the Charlotte fashion community. The distribution will be overseen by Charlotte Fashion Week Advisory Board member, Andrea Campos.
